My First Weekly Post and Studying Tips

Although it isn't Friday yet, I figured that I'd kick off my blog with my first "post of the week"! Being that it's the holiday season, many teachers have been trying to close off their lessons with either big tests or quizzes. Today, I have a quest (a quiz/test) in AP Human Geography and a Spanish quiz. Being proactive, I have made multiple notes and have studied immensely, so I hope that I do well. Also, our school has a winter carnival on January 18th and I am going to be performing in the band and dance portion of this event. Soon, I hope to put up pictures of this and of other volunteering opportunities that I participate in.

In this post I thought that I might include my major studying techniques, and here they are:
         1. Read through the information in your resources (textbooks or worksheets) thoroughly and highlight important information.
         2. Get out some lined paper and begin to write out the important highlighted information in note form that you will understand (in the future I plan to explain in more detail how to take notes that are worth taking). Make sure that your notes are handwritten, as writing it out helps you comprehend the information better.
         3. At least three days before the quiz or test you should read through your notes about twice a night and do it without rushing through.
         4. The night before the assessment you should read your notes as many times as you can, but don't go overboard because that will burn you out. Once you feel like you completely understand the notes that you have taken, test yourself.
         5. There are many websites in which you can create self-tests or even use ones from other people (e.g. studystack.com and quizlet.com).
         6. Make sure that you don't stay up too late studying (as that can only hinder you), and the next morning read through your notes at least once more and eat a healthy breakfast.

Following these steps will hopefully work for you, as it has for me for many years. Please remember that the amount you study depends on how challenging the material is for you! All of these steps may not apply to you in your own personal cases, and so you may want to tweak them to your liking.

Since these next few weeks are winter break, I probably won't be posting much because I'm not in school! In the future I hope to blog more about how to get involved in your community and how to aid yourself academically. :)

Have a fantastic holiday break,
Charlie

The Foundation of my Brand

Being able to do well in this world means a lot to me. I want to succeed and with my success I want to help other people. This blog will be a means of my way to tell people my story on the road to success. Whether it’s how my academics went one week or whether it’s the type of volunteering work that I completed during another, I hope that one day people will look at this blog and say, “So this is how she did it.” I want to share my accomplishments with the world one week at a time and I want to show other people that it is possible to follow your dreams. I am Charlie Rollason and I am a driven person.
